Serena Williams, the renowned American tennis player and 23 Grand Slam winner, has made a recent announcement stating that her secret investment firm Serena Ventures will invest in thirty companies, one of which is Coinbase, a top cryptocurrency exchange.
In recent times, there have been quite a number of big firms, personalities, and celebrities that have gotten involved in cryptocurrency investments.
It now seems that Serena Williams has joined the trend. Williams announced her VC firm on Instagram, revealing that it was founded back in 2014 and enumerated some of the more prominent companies in which the fund will be investing, which also included Coinbase.
She recently stated that her investment firm will be investing an undisclosed amount in 30 companies. Williams posted on her Instagram:
“In 2014, (yes I know I can keep a secret) I launched Serena Ventures with the mission of giving opportunities to founders across an array of industries. Serena Ventures invests in companies that embrace diverse leadership, individual empowerment, creativity, and opportunity.”

From the post, we understand that the tennis player’s firm will be concentrating on companies that ‘promote basic needs that keep society growing.’
Williams’ inclusion of a crypto firm like Coinbase in her portfolio clearly shows that the crypto industry is of interest to both American and global wealthy celebrities, as more of them are making crypto investment (even though not all these attempts were successful).
Considering her position in the world of sport; Serena Venture’s move to invest in crypto will definitely further the adoption movement and will also impact her fans and other celebs.
Coinbase is one of the top crypto exchanges in the world, which deals with a variety of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple and many more.
It has not yet been disclosed what other firms will receive investments from Serena Ventures.
