Wormhole is a smart-contract protocol upgrade for the Bitcoin Cash blockchain proposed by a team of Chinese developers led by Jiazhi Jiang. Essentially, the Wormhole protocol allows users to implement a smart contract feature — just like ERC-20 does within Ethereum network — without changing the consensus rules of Bitcoin Cash’s blockchain. To achieve this, it employs OP_RETURN opcode based on the Omni Layer protocol.

EU Member of Parliament Proposes Regulating ICOs Under New Crowdfunding Rules

A recent draft report from the European Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs to the European Parliament suggests that Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) may in the future be covered by European crowdfunding regulations. If ICOs offer new and innovative ways of funding, they can “generate substantial market, fraud and cyber security risks to investors”.

A Russian independent electoral watchdog is trialing a blockchain-based electronic voting system. The non-profit Association of Independent Public Observers, dubbed “National Public Monitoring” (NOM), announced the pilot at a press conference in Moscow on Friday. “As part of our congress, we are launching a pilot electronic voting system built on a blockchain system.”

How China Is Fighting Corruption With Blockchain

Blockchain technology has become part of China’s national, president-signed program and is now set to fight corruption. The latest advancement in the field relates to the country’s old corruption staple — fake invoices (called “Fapiaos” Chinese word for an official invoice) used to embezzle corporate and state funds. As such, the Tax authorities of the city of Shenzhen and a state-owned aerospace firm have recently turned to blockchain for immutable and transparent record-keeping, steadily putting an end to paperback corruption.
