Bitcoin SV Will Cannibalize All Cryptocurrencies, Trumpets Craig Wright’s Pal

By CCN: Leading Bitcoin SV proponent Calvin Ayre has warned that the demise of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is imminent. Speaking to Bloomberg, Ayre stated that if BSV’s scaling plans materialize other cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin will be rendered irrelevant:

If BSV scales, continues to follow its scaling roadmap, there’s just no need for anything else. So I think they will be absorbed into BSV … I think everything will be absorbed into BSV as the dominant chain.

However, Ayre pointed out that Bitcoin could continue to exist ‘in the near term’ even as other cryptocurrencies were absorbed.

Fake news or not, bitcoin SV climbs to 8th place

Ayre’s remarks come at a time when BSV is enjoying double-digit percentage gains. In the past 24 hours, the altcoin has increased by over 70 percent to hit $226.

It is now the 8th largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization having climbed from the 14th position it held just weeks ago. Since the start of the year, BSV has appreciated by around 145 percent from about $91 to the current $226.

The massive rally which has seen the altcoin move six positions up the market cap rankings has however sparked speculation over what could be causing it. CCN has previously reported that the surge could have been fueled by fake news. Specifically, the made-up news emanating from China falsely indicated that the altcoin had been relisted on Binance exchange.

It was delisted several weeks ago following attempts by another leading proponent of BSV, Craig Wright, to denounce anyone questioning his claims to be the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. This is an issue that Ayre revisited during the Bloomberg interview.

Despite not offering conclusive evidence proving Wright’s claims, Ayre insisted that his BSV ally is indeed Satoshi Nakamoto. According to Ayre, Wright had been ‘seriously working’ on Bitcoin before he launched it in 2009 under the famous pseudonym. Ayre was introduced to Wright in 2015. Reports of Wright claiming to be Nakamoto first emerged late that year in a Wired article.

Ayre further said that Wright only revealed himself after Bitcoin was ‘hijacked’. Now Ayre is helping Wright ‘get back control of the narrative in the Bitcoin space’:

He [Wright] launched it under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto but then stepped away and thought that it would take on a life of its own which it did. Now the technology is still there but it was hijacked by a number of different forces.
