Crypto Firm Scores Sleeve Sponsorship With Wolves in Premier League First

The English Premier League, the world’s most-watched football league with some 600 million viewers in over 200 countries, now has a cryptocurrency firm sponsoring one of its teams during the new season.

The cryptocurrency exchange has sealed a sleeve sponsorship deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed sum, running for the entire duration of the 2018-19 Premier League season.

Message of Optimism

A series of barnstorming performances in last season’s English championship saw Wolves win the league with a nine-point advantage over their nearest challengers, earning them automatic promotion to the Premier League next season. Aided by a technically accomplished Portuguese team core and the tactically astute manager Nuno Espirito Santo, there is a considerable amount of optimism surrounding the club which has not played in the Premier League since its relegation in 2012.

CoinDeal will hope to cash in on this upward trajectory with the club’s first ever sleeve sponsorship deal, which also covers first-team training kits, LED advertising boards and the first team dugout at Wolves’ Molineux stadium. The one year deal will see CoinDeal’s logo appear on the left sleeve of Wolves’ matchday kits next season.

Speaking about the sponsorship deal, CoinDeal co-founder Kajetan Maćkowiak said:

“At CoinDeal we are very aware of the impact that football marketing can have on brand and its community, especially in industry such as ours. We believe that a club like Wolves will help portray our message globally. It is an incredibly exciting time to be involved with Wolves, on the eve of their return to the English Premier League and we look forward to supporting them to ensure they continue their incredible performance levels both on and off the pitch.”

On their part, Wolves praised CoinDeal for being flexible with its sponsorship requirements and dropped a hint that the platform could one day become its main shirt sponsor.

Managing Director Laurie Dalrymple said:

“Once more a partner has agreed to tweaking the colour of their logo to complement our kit, which is a huge gesture of goodwill towards the club and its fans, and something we are very grateful for. CoinDeal is a bold and progressive company, who we believe to be an ideal match to become one of our principal partners, and we look forward to working with them throughout our first season back in the Premier League.”

CoinDeal’s sponsorship deal with Wolves is the most high profile in a recent trend of crypto companies sponsoring athletes and sports teams, as the industry attempts to fuel its growth and gain mainstream recognition.

CCN earlier reported that Dogecoin sponsored the ‘Dogecar’ driven by NASCAR’s Josh Wise at the Talladega 500. More recently, Bitcoin Cash promoter Roger Ver announced a sponsorship deal with MMA title challenger Mei Yamaguchi.
