HTC is working on a new blockchain router, the EXODUS 5G Hub, which enables users to operate a full Bitcoin node and conduct transactions independently of third parties. At the same time, every new user contributes to the security of the entire network by supporting the forwarding of transactions by other users.

The product also supports the ProtonMail e-mail service, the Brave open source Internet browser and the decentralized VPN Incognito and is expected to be launched in the second quarter. HTC has not yet announced an official price.

More data protection for everyone

The new device is said to improve data protection at home by allowing users to keep their own private keys via a hardware wallet. The goal, according to HTC’s decentralized chief officer, Phil Chen, is to challenge the dominance of smart devices from large technology companies – Amazon Alexa, Google Nest, Facebook, etc. – that compromise users’ personal information.

“EXODUS is about ownership. Possessing your keys, possessing your data, possessing your privacy … EXODUS is the shield against the onslaught of big tech and its attack on the privacy of your home. By using the EXODUS 5G hub, users have more control and ownership over their data than ever before. ”
    Phil Chen

HTC goes on to say that the hub allows users to have their router keys, which gives them more power over their own data. “They are now verifying the cloud servers instead of verifying you. It’s a complete shift in power from the status quo. ”
