Basic Attention Token, the utility token of the Brave platform, was listed by bitFlyer on its exchange back in April. “To further strengthen our cooperation, we will start developing a crypto asset wallet for Brave browser users. We will also launch a joint marketing campaign to expand the recognition of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology among our customers and to improve customer convenience,”- explained the document.

Brave browser users that are residents of Japan receive Basic Attention Token Points (BAP) instead of the BAT crypto, as the country’s regulation restricts them from accepting crypto or trading their points for fiat on exchanges.

“At this point, we are using ‘points’ to reward users but there are some limits. [Through the partnership] we think it may be possible to go beyond that,” –stated a Brave spokesperson.

BitFlyer has said that more details about the crypto wallet will be disclosed on July 30th at an event in Tokyo, where the founder of Brave, Brendan Eich, will be taking the stage.

Brave has been booming in popularity in the South East Asian region. The latest high-profile partnership of Brave were with Korean pop idol group “BTS”, or Bangtan Boys, and Japanese esports team Rush Gaming, which will develop browsers only for Japan-based users.

Several Japanese crypto exchanges have been listing Brave’s native token BAT, including BitFlyer.

While not divulging the features of the upcoming wallet, BitFlyer revealed:

“Brave is the BAT connected browser and browsing is an everyday activity. It will be a new opportunity for users to use and earn cryptocurrency and we see it as a new model case to show the potential of cryptocurrency […] We want to make people feel more familiar with cryptocurrency through the partnership with Brave”

The two companies have also revealed plans of a joint marketing campaign in Japan “to expand the recognition of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology among our customers and to improve customer convenience”.
