Learn how to recover your forked Bitcoin Gold from your BTC.com wallet.
You can now extract your Bitcoin Gold (BTG) if you had a BTC.com wallet with a positive bitcoin balance on the 25th of October, 2017 (at block height 491407).
How to use the recovery tool?
Step 1: Visit btg-recovery.btc.com
Visit the above landing page to start the recovery process, then click the “Begin recovery” button.
It’s highly recommended that you use the tool in your computer/ laptop browser.
Step 2: Log in to your BTC.com wallet
Use the email address and password of your BTC.com wallet account to start the process. If you have 2-factor-authentication enabled on your account, please expect that you will need the code to access this feature. Click “Begin Discovery”.
Step 3: Wait until the recovery tool finds your balance
If the tool finds a positive balance, the amount will appear on the screen. If it does not, and you are sure that you fulfill all criteria to have post-fork Bitcoin Gold, you can re-try the recovery with a broader search scope.
Step 4: Enter the address where you want to send your BTG
Next, make sure you have an address available (e.g. another wallet or exchange) that is able to receive Bitcoin Gold.
IMPORTANT: do NOT send Bitcoin Gold to your BTC.com bitcoin/ Bitcoin Cash wallet address! Only Bitcoin Gold addresses can be used.
Step 5: Finish the recovery
Finally, make sure to broadcast your transaction to the Bitcoin Gold network. You can simply click the Broadcast button or manually broadcast it to your own node.
