The value of knowledge is underrated — even today when it advances  at an explosive pace. While the appreciation of knowledge creation is there, and people benefit from it directly, it is still not valued and appreciated directly like it deserves. Knowledge.io is a new blockchain-based knowledge platform that aims to revolutionize the valuation of knowledge and rewarding knowledge contributors for their contributions more than just thumbs on their profiles like in Reddit and Quora.

Knowledge.io  is a decentralized knowledge-sharing network that aims to democratize knowledge and how people contribute to it. They seek to reward knowledge contributors with knowledge tokens for sharing ideas that flow between advertisers, partners and users for improved decision making regarding a number of crucial areas.

While the knowledge sharing industry is viewed as crucial in many countries, and they invest a lot in its development through schools and training programs, the distribution of knowledge without benefitting the original thinker in a decentralized way has not yet been realized.

The issue with knowledge and innovation is that it is still seen as intangible, especially in its raw form. But it is the intangible part that makes it a great asset for shaping the thinking of individuals and groups.

After the latest financial crisis in 2008, the world realized that investing in intangible assets was just as important as tangible assets and that’s why there was a renewed effort on education and information accounting. More than  50% of major OECD economies’ GDP is spent on these sectors now and that shows just how valuable this whole process is and it shows the long-sightedness of these countries.

But, the problem here is centralization, as countries’ efforts to do it are not holistic and in many cases superficial. To achieve true democratization and increase worth of knowledge around the world, a decentralized platform for sharing and appreciating knowledge is important.

Currently, there are a number of private platforms that try to market themselves as tools for spreading knowledge and connecting the right skilled and knowledge workers with the right employers. LinkedIn is one good example for connecting knowledge workers with employers.

Other knowledge platforms, like Quora, are also gearing up for monetizing with ad placements.

While both of these platforms are really helpful in recognizing knowledge workers and giving them the right platform to discuss their ideas, they are still lacking in appreciation of their knowledge with monetary rewards.

According to the Human Capital Index 2016, the world’s economy has failed more than a third of the world’s talent. It points to the fact that knowledge creators and workers are just as important as others and still get nothing but appreciation and upvotes in return. The world needs to value innovation by paying them back and giving them its ownership and rights as well which are often taken away from them.

Knowledge.io has a solution in this regard. It celebrates, appreciates and rewards knowledge based on the e-learning platform it has created. Here people validate each other’s knowledge. Advertisers then directly use this knowledge in return for tokens called knowledge tokens. These tokens can be traded with other cryptocurrencies and even be used for other purposes on the same platform too.

The levels of knowledge in a person is determined by the Knowledge Score Technology. Like Quora but with millions of questions, Knowledge.io aims to generate and extend a virtually endless supply of topic-centric questions.

ICO

The Knowledge.io will launch an ICO on January 15, 2018. Up to 50 million Knowledge tokens will be up for grabs in the initial offer. Since this is such a steady development process, the proceeds from the ICO will be used for continued development of the project.
